Tricia Feist, DMD

Dr. Tricia Feist was born and raised in southern California. Her enthusiasm for teeth began early when, after the removal of her braces, she declared that she was “going to be a dentist, because I can’t imagine a better job than helping people keep their smiles.” This interest in dentistry only flourished as she learned just how vital a healthy mouth is to a person’s overall mental and physical well-being.

Her favorite part about practicing dentistry is building relationships and trust while having the opportunity to provide a caring and comfortable experience for all of her patients. From her perspective, a trip to the dentist should feel more like a catch-up visit with friends who just happen to be experts in dentistry at the same time!

Dr. Feist loves that dentistry allows lifelong learning and growth. She remains actively committed to enhancing her clinical and diagnostic skills through a strenuous course of continuing education. She is a faculty member for Spear Education, which is a prestigious group of practitioners committed to providing comprehensive, preventive treatment that is interdisciplinary and focused on providing optimal results. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Latin from UCLA, and a Doctor of Medical Dentistry (DMD) degree from the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. In addition, she completed her general practice residency at the Denver Health Medical Center where she received advanced training in all aspects of general dentistry, emergency dentistry and management of medically-compromised patients.

She lives in the South Bay with her husband, James, and her two children, Robert (4) and Shealynn (2). In addition to trying to keep up with her very energetic children, this avid baseball, hockey and Disneyland fan enjoys watching movies, playing games, reading, and spending time with her family and friends.

Sahar Shafi, DDS (Periodontist)

Dr. Sahar Shafi brings extensive training and expertise to our team. It was her own experience as a periodontal patient at the ripe age of 19 that motivated her to become a periodontist, where she discovered what she claims is “a beautiful blend of medicine and dentistry.”

Originally from the San Joaquin Valley, she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in biology from California State University, Fresno and graduated summa cum laude. She then received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of California, Los Angeles. She continued on her quest for learning by completing a one-year General Practice Residency at the VA North Hills, followed by a rigorous three-year Periodontal Surgery and Implantology Residency from UCLA. Most notably, she is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. This title is given to a periodontist who has made significant achievements beyond the mandatory educational requirements of the specialty. In addition, Board Certification requires comprehensive oral and written examinations covering all phases of periodontal disease and its treatment, including dental implants. By successfully completing the examination process she has earned one of the highest recognitions of achievement afforded by the specialty.

Dr. Shafi has published and conducted research in the field of dentistry as well. While at UCLA, Dr. Shafi was heavily involved in cutting-edge research using osteoinductive growth factor-based therapies in an attempt to find a more effective and safer method for bone regeneration. She is an expert not only in minimally-invasive procedures such as flapless extractions, soft tissue grafting microsurgery, bone grafting and regenerative procedures, but also in full mouth rehabilitation cases involving esthetic periodontal plastic surgery, sinus augmentations, and immediate and delayed implant placement.

Dr. Shafi is committed to delivering the best care for her patients and is dedicated to remaining at the forefront of her field in order to provide patients with predictable and successful results. She cares tremendously for her patients and is a true advocate for education, demonstrated by her appointment as Lecturer and Instructor at UCLA’s School of Dentistry, along with lecturing to other dentists about various aspects of periodontal surgery. She has been the recipient of numerous awards and has been recognized for her knowledge and expertise in the field of periodontics. Her honest, kind and gentle demeanor will truly make your experience a positive one.

Dr. Shafi is an active member of organized dentistry at the American Academy of Periodontology, American Board of Periodontology, California Society of Periodontology, California Dental Association, and the West Los Angeles Dental Society.

Dr. Shafi currently resides in West Los Angeles with her husband, Shahaab. When she is not on a yoga mat or meal-prepping for her family, you can usually find her planning her next international excursion or nose-deep in a good book. Most of all, she enjoys quality time with her family and friends.
